Sweet baby girls | Albuquerque family photographer

I've known this family for a long, long time. Eryn, Victor and I go way back to my days as a waitress at Chili's. When we moved to New Mexico, they contacted me right away about doing newborn photos.

It was a 3-hour drive, but totally worth it. Their older daughter, M, was so cute. She was like my shadow for a large portion of the shoot, then she was in heaven when I let her wear the pink petti skirt I had brought along.

Such a freakin' doll.

And her baby sister - OMG. The biggest eyes I have ever seen on a newborn. She didn't sleep much, but I think I am starting to prefer the awake shots anyways. Lol.

Thanks again, Eryn and Victor! Enjoy your sneak peek.

Albuquerque, NM, newborn photographer | Emri

Second blog post of the day, which means the second gallery completed for the day.

Productivity at its finest.

Meet Emri.

Her mama and I were due with our little girls at almost the exact same time. As the story goes, my little Charlotte came two months early and Emri...she was right on time. :)

At exactly 1 week old, she was the sweetest, quietest, most easily posed baby I have ever photographed.

Her session lasted all of 2 hours (if that). And, when we were done, Tiffany and Carlos made the most awesome green chile burgers ever.

Mmmm.

I love New Mexico.

And babies. :)

Thanks again, Tiffany and Carlos! Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl.

Baby B | Grand Rapids birth photographers

The whole story behind this birth kind of makes me giggle. Not because there was anything funny actually going on, but because it was all so meticulously planned out - Carol and I had been in talks about the birth for a little over a month beforehand...and I still managed to miss the big "moment."

Carol was set to be induced on a Tuesday morning. So, like all my clients, I told her to text me when she was dilated to 4cm.

The first text I received was around 9:30am..."OMG! I'm at 6cm!"

This was the first time that she had been checked.

I raced out of bed, got my camera stuff together, and headed to the hospital.

I was there within an hour...but when I walked into the room, I could hear the sweet sounds of a crying baby.

Clearly, Baby B was ready to make his appearance...photographer present, or not. Lol.

It was a huge bummer to miss that moment, but it was still precious having the chance to see this family come together, in awe of their newest addition.

Congrats to friends and family. Enjoy the sneak peek!

The birth story of Kellen James | Grand Rapids birth photographers

I don't even know where to begin with this post.

First of all, I am so grateful to Tara and Brent for allowing me to be a part of such a special event in each of their lives.  When we first met over coffee to discuss birth and newborn pictures, we were literally at Starbucks for nearly two hours.  They are just genuinely fun, funny people...the kind of people I could see myself drinking beer with on Sundays.

Tara was due September 1, and I was leaving for a five-day trip on the 6th. I was wishing and hoping that she would go into labor by the 4th, just in case.

Well, she didn't.

So then I was wishing and hoping that she would hold baby Kellen in until the day after I returned.

Thankfully, she obliged. ;)

At 1am, Tara began feeling contractions, and by 3am, she was waking up her husband. Then, in what I think is the best part of the story, they sat down together and watched Good Morning, Vietnam before heading to the hospital. Lol.

It really doesn't get any better.

I arrived at the hospital when Tara was about 6cm dilated. The nurses were certain that she would have a baby before dinnertime; however, Kellen had other plans. With too large of a head to come out naturally, baby Kellen ended up being delivered via C-Section.

After over 24 hours of labor, Tara and Brent finally got to meet their handsome little angel.
